WEEK 2:
This week we started our preliminary task which is to create a school publication, a magazine. In this task so far, I have created my flat plan for my magazine, I have posted both a first draft (black and white) and second draft (with colour); I am really happy with my flat plan and with the way I have used most of the space so there is hardly any white-spaces. Using Publisher was really helpful in order to use different shapes to create my layout; Publisher gives you a wide range of shapes, rather than using the same rectangular and square shapes. However, my only dislike about my about my flat plan, was in my second draft when I started to show the theme of the magazine, was I wasn't keen on the colours; the colours in publisher are quite different yet simple, I also find it quite hard to make different colours match together. This is why I chose to stick with blues; I used a variety of blue colours as I thought it would look better.
The next thing I am planning to do in my preliminary task, is to start taking my pictures for the school publication, to upload and place on to the magazine to make it come to life more. Once I have placed my pictures, I will then be able to start writing my articles; I have already written a draft for my main article (the cover story), although I would prefer to capture my pictures first, in order to make sure I am relating images to text; this will make it seem much more organised and professional.
So far, I am happy with my progress and once I start putting the magazine together, it will make me more confident to start my main task, in creating my own music magazine.

Production Diary
Week 1:
This week we started our studies in AS Media and started focusing on our coursework to make a Music Magazine. We learnt the breakdown of what we will have to do throughout our coursework, such as setting up this blog and uploaded every week to show our progression through the production of our magazine. We set-up our individual blogs and prepared to start our work, beginning with our preliminary task of creating a school publication.
This week we also looked at the Key approaches to media and started to look at a range of magazine genres and how to compare them. I look forward to getting started and will be uploaded all my work on here to show my progression.

Introduction
My name is Ellie Laws and this will be my Media blog for the production of my AS coursework, of creating a music magazine. I would upload every week of my progress throughout my duration of creating my magazine; It will include production diaries - this are week uploads of my progress through the week and what I have completed, my work - what I have completed I will write up onto my blog using a variation of different software’s, such as Prezi, my preliminary task and my main task. I will upload and write a short-paragraphed description to briefly explain what the post is about.
Second flatplan with colour
This is my second flatplan for my preliminary task of the school publication; I have now added my colour scheme onto the magazine, to show the theme I have planned to use, by presenting it on my Front cover and Contents page. I am still very pleased with the layout and I feel the way I've made the colours sink in is done quite well, however, with using Publisher, I think the colours can not all mesh well together, so you have to stick to a variety of one colour, for example, Blue, like I have done, in order for it to look good. I am not disappointed with the way my ideas for my school publication look, although I would prefer to have used more of a variety of different colours.
On the other hand, by keeping the colours to a variety of the same (Blue in my case), it does tend to look quite professional and organised; sometimes with having a variety of different colours, it can look quite messy and not fit right. Simplicity can sometimes be the best with these types of publications, in order to look their best.
First draft of my School Magazine
This is my first draft of my flatplan for the preliminary task for making a school publication; it includes both a front cover page and a contents page. I am really happy with the layout of my magazine, as I think it is nicely organised, with hardly any 'white-spaces', as well as having different ways the text and images are laid out on the magazine. I feel my magazine is going to be clear and organised, as well as being easy to ready, due to the way I have decided and planned to layout my magazine. The next plan to do with my school publication, is to start adding colours to my flatplan, in order to start showing the theme.
Three key approaches
This is a presentation I made, based around the three key approaches to media; media organisations, meaning and representation and ethical issues. I chose to base my presentation around a music video (Miley Cyrus - We can't stop) as i thought it would be a great example to use, to show these approaches. In this presentation, I think I explained and gave examples of the three key approaches well; showing different points of view, rather than just one.
